About TNT

TNT is a mentoring program that serves youth in the Benton-Carroll-Salem Local, Port Clinton City, Danbury Local, Put-In-Bay, and Woodmore Local schools. Combining supportive and fun activities, training on implementing the 40 Developmental Assets, and other mentor/student opportunities, we strive to provide long-term benefits to the youth we

TNT’s History

TNT started in the spring of 2013 in the Benton-Carroll-Salem School District by Judy Peters, the then Director of Student Services, in collaboration with Judge Kathleen Giesler of the Ottawa Juvenile Court. Their vision was to provide all students “in need” an opportunity for additional support in the form of a mentor.

The program had shown such success in BCS schools that Chris Galvin, the Director of United Way of Ottawa County, wanted to see the program expand to all Ottawa County schools. The program first expanded to Port Clinton City Schools in the fall of 2014 with Danbury to follow in the fall of 2015. In 2016, Woodmore and Put-in-Bay partnered and in 2017, Genoa Local Schools partnered and we are now county-wide!

In 2016-17, TNT offered services to over 250 students!

Where Are We Now

TNT is partnered with all Ottawa County public school districts as well as Woodmore Local. In the 2017-18 school year, we hope to serve 350 students.
